1. Sign up – register / enlist in an opportunity where you have to interact with people
2. Show up – getting yourself there is half the effort, i.e. to a networking event, a class, a reception, a talk, a luncheon, etc…
3. Stand up straight – remember what your mother always used to tell you (automatically makes you appear more confident & strong)
4. Smile – when you genuinely smile, you convey warmth, an openness, approachableness
5. Step out of your comfort zone – initiate a greeting, an introduction, a handshake (firm)
6. Seize the moment – make the most of that interactive engagement, i.e. follow up if appropriate (helps to build your credibility)
7. Stay the course – the more you practice, the better you will become at networking
