DISC® Profile:  High Interpersonal

High I’s create the personal connections that make the world go round.  Unfortunately they often aren’t taken seriously in the workplace because of that bubbly personality.  Often described as enthusiastic, persuasive, charming, impulsive, and optimistic, people that come in at the high end of the interpersonal scale can feel that everyone else needs to lighten up!

HighI

Tips for being a High I:

  • High Dominants and High Compliants may perceive your chatty personality and outgoing nature as superficial, even incompetent, so learn how and when to be serious and focused.
  • Your nature is naturally oriented to taking risks, so seek input before making major decisions.
  • Use your gregarious nature to repair and build bridges between people and departments.
  • If you are a leader, remember to set clear expectations with your staff.  Not everyone can fly successfully by the seat of their pants!

Tips for communicating with a High I:

  • Don’t rush into business - start conversation with a personal warm-up
  • Don’t waste time trying to be impersonal, judgmental or too task-oriented.
  • Do provide ideas for implementing action.
  • Do set clear expectations and establish routines for follow up
  • Do speak at a rapid pace.
