Communication DISCovery Workshop—Working together, smarter and better

Workshop ObjectivesTeam_Tug_of_War

Learn how to create more effective business relationships using behavioral style alignment:

  1. Recognize the different behavioral styles and understand how they promote or frustrate clear communication and relationship development
  2. Determine your own behavioral style and how it affects how others perceive you and interact with you
  3. Understand your personal bias towards certain behavioral styles and how this impacts your success
  4. Understand how the composite styles of the organization affect its outcomes
  5. Learn how to leverage this knowledge to greater personal and organizational success

Assumptions

  • Using the DISC behavioral model, there are four basic behavioral styles, each of which has its unique way of communicating.
  • Your dominant style influences the way you speak and listen.
  • Each style has its own characteristic strengths and limitations.
  • You can improve business relationships, communicate more effectively, and achieve more powerful results when you recognize and adapt to the style of the person you're interacting with.

Description

This live workshop blends educational presentation of the behavioral communication concept with audience interaction. This topic is available as a ½-day or full-day workshop and focuses on a current business challenge. Each participant will receive a personalized Success Insights DISC report prior to the workshop.

The facilitator uses humor and real-world examples of relationship “raspberries” to engage the group and shift perspectives. Participants will be encouraged to provide examples of their own behavioral style challenges. The group will explore how behavioral styles support and impede progress and achievement of organizational goals. Specific business problems can be explored and solved using the techniques discussed and combined team results.

Participants will learn tools for assessing behavioral styles and gain an in-depth working knowledge of them. The group will develop techniques for leveraging the strengths of their team members and employing new communication techniques between sessions.

Participants will leave the workshop with a greater confidence in their ability to create more cooperative and productive relationships, and to avoid costly misunderstandings and conflict. Participants will have the tools needed to work more cohesively as a team and use the power of each team member more effectively. A communication style reference guide is available to provide the participants with at-a-glance information in the future as they use what they have learned in their daily work.
