Career by Choice Workshop—Blazing a trail to job satisfaction

Every step…every day, moves you toward your future. The question is, “Will it be the future you want to have”? Don’t leave your future to chance. Create your career by choice!

Workshop Objectives

Is your career heading in the right direction? Are your people motivated to own their career journey or content to let you pave the way? Take charge of your career journey.

  1. Uncover your career illusions and understand the potential pitfalls of not taking a proactive approach to your career development
  2. Determine if you are in the driver’s seat or if your career is taking you for a ride
  3. Assess your unique work motivations and plot your career life cycle to see what stimulates your growth
  4. Experience a practice “pink slip” and see how marketable you really are
  5. Learn how to boost your net worth through networks, personal branding, market awareness and continuous growth

Workshop Assumptions

  • It is easy to lose track of your career in the midst of a busy job.
  • People often harbor illusions of their professional net worth, making continuous development a low priority.
  • While people may expect their employer to provide development and career opportunities, each of us is ultimately responsible for our career path.
  • Understanding specifically what you value in a work environment keeps you focused on your optimal career path and goals. Work values drive work behaviors.
  • Career success is created through clear goals, professional connection, understanding and communicating your unique value, and continuous development.

Workshop Description

This live workshop offers valuable perspectives for employees at all levels. It blends educational presentation of proactive career development concepts with exercises and audience interaction. This topic is available as a 2- or 4-hour workshop. A leadership version includes how to use workplace motivation assessment tools to improve individual and team performance.

The career coach uses humor, metaphors and real-world examples to raise awareness and create renewed career motivation. Participants will each receive a customized 24-page Workplace Motivators report, assessed online prior to the event. The group will explore how their internal work value structure plays a key role in personal job satisfaction and team dynamics.

Participants will gain tools and insights for building an internal and external network, creating and marketing their professional brand, and designing their optimal career path.

Our goal is for participants to leave the workshop with a renewed interest in career development and specific next steps. The Workplace Motivators report also provides leadership with insights on uniquely motivating higher levels of performance for each participant.
